Why a R.I.B.?
R.I.B.’s (= Rigid Inflatable Boats) are (still) the minority being
used at sea. But their number is growing. We have placed our bet on
a R.I.B. right from the very beginning.
Why is that?
Well, we love sunny and calm boat trips. In the Balearic Sea, bad weather
or strong wind is as scarce as hen’s teeth anyway in summer. All
too often, sailing boats need to use their engine to get some speed
at all...
And, what do you need a cabin for? You rarely spend the night on the
boat. And if you do so, why not in a romantic manner – below the
starry firmament or in a tent? This is called boat camping.
And where do you lie down to sunbathe? If you have ever tried on the
cabin roof of a typical motor boat of this size, you know the difference.
Our Nubita II has two spacious sun loungers – the size of double
beds – so that you can really stretch out in the sunshine. Of
course you can also use the boat’s sunshade to protect you from
getting sunburned.
You are leaving port, you want to moor your boat in its allotted place,
you need to get petrol... aboard a normal boat this means to continuously
put the fenders out an in. Our R.I.B. does not know this kind of activity,
it has a large fender all around. There is just one tiny little problem:
You get so used to it so that you do not want to manoeuvre in another
way anymore. Everything is a lot easier, more comfortable and relaxing
– according to the very spirit of our Nubita philosophy.
Let’s put it the way it is: Driving a motor boat is a lot of fun
– but it is relevant to CO2 emissions. The same day you are using
the boat, however, you might be driving your car or using the engine
of a sailing boat. What is important here is to save energy.
A few figures: Our BWA, including the engine, weighs 1.470 kg, a normal
boat up to three metric tons. This is extremely relevant to fuel consumption.
And to the driving speed. Just imagine a traditional boat with a 225
hp engine, and you know the difference. Our BWA pulls the wildest wakeboarder
and it will take your breath away. She makes over 40 knots – but
only if the water is calm, please, we want to see you again –
and our boat, of course...
The most important argument, however, is that R.I.B.’s are by
far the most secure boats of their category. And we want you to have
a save trip and enjoy every single moment.
Just try it out!
But never underestimate the sea. And please, leave the Atlantic Ocean
alone...
